Services

I am both a Resource Teacher and Wilson Reading Teacher in a private school. This breadth of experience has afforded me the ability to support families who need help navigating school and home life because they value their student’s uniqueness. Imagine if schools would approach all learning from a positive outlook, recognizing that among our greatest assets are our diversity and capacity for innovation.

Mentoring Families

I am available all year to mentor families who need guidance with their next step after learning their child is struggling with phonics, reading, writing or has been diagnosed with a learning disability. We can discuss whether a tutor is needed, and how to select and hire one; how to work in partnership with your child’s public or private school; and how to navigate the Child Find and IEP process. If you are interested in my mentoring services, we can discuss your needs and how best I can help you.

Summer Tutoring (mid-June to mid-August)

As Your Virtual Dyslexia Practitioner, I deliver online Orton-Gillingham (OG) tutoring sessions through Zoom.  Once you engage me as your student’s tutor, the student and I meet briefly to ensure that we are a good match. Our initial session begins with the student taking The Phonological Awareness Test 2.  This enables me to determine the student’s competence with words, syllables, rhymes, and their ability to manipulate individual sounds (phonemes) in spoken language.  The test results are compiled in a report that explains where in my scope and sequence I will begin our lessons.

What is my program?

My tutoring curriculum is created from multiple, reputable Orton-Gillingham resources including Dr. Fran Bowman’s Orton-Gillingham’s Phase One and Two, Lindamood’s LiPS, Verticy Learning’s Phonics/Spelling Program, and The Flynn System/The ABCs of O-G. It is further enriched by components of Barton Reading,  the Wilson Reading System, and numerous speech-language pathology materials.
